Starting my blog was a goal for this year and I am finally getting started and I am finally working a my quilt for the 5th block in the “Vintage Revisited” Challenge, this is a challenge from Mary Kerr, she gave 20 quilters of all kinds the same block with the instructions to make a 24″ square quilt from the block (you can see the first four groups on Mary’s web site,www.marywkerr.com). The block had been on my design wall sneering at me for months and two nights ago I had a break through moment (at least I hope so since cutting and sewing have commenced). I had been looking through books of public domain blocks and I found one called “Arabic Lattice”. The pieces in it would accommodate the pieces for the disassembled block and I like the look of the block. I did some more research and found out the block was first published in 1901. That is approximately the time of the original block so it seemed a perfect match. The pictures will give you a feel for the process (or at least as far as it has gotten). While this was all happening, I decide to start my blog. That sounds simple but if you hit the wrong button bad things can happen and so this is the 3rd time I have typed this in the last 27 hours (the first time was completely lost as well as crashed my account with my server), I hope that things take this time.
