Freeform Quilting
In this 3- or 6-hour workshop, we will cover two important aspects of machine quilting: preparation and stitching. Students will begin class by watching me demonstrate how to sandwich and baste a large quilt on a smaller table and then they will sandwich and baste their own class project. Once the quilts are prepared for stitching, we will discuss how to design the quilting for their project. In this class we will quilt on panels (cheater's cloth). Panels are perfect practice pieces since they are neither expensive nor have they taken time to construct. There are many areas of a panel that lend themselves to intricate planning and that allows the students to learn and execute these quilting patterns. |
